A trial of an extra coach service to provide a more seamless connection with XPT train services should make travel times between Young and Sydney shorter.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said the trial of an additional coach connection between Young and Cootamundra would start from Sunday, June 17.
“People travelling between Young and Sydney can look forward to saving two hours on their journey thanks to this trial coach service to connect to the XPT at Cootamundra,” Ms Cooke said.
“Customers currently wait for two hours at Cootamundra Station when transferring between coach and train services. The trial will reduce this time to less than fifteen minutes.
“This is excellent news for people who have been using the existing connections between Young and Sydney and hopefully the faster travel time will mean more people can use the service."
Ms Cooke said she hopes the extra coach service will provide another option for people travelling locally between Young and Cootamundra.
“The trial coach will operate in addition to the existing coach services that provide a connection to the XPT to and from Melbourne," she said.
“The Young community has been asking for improved connection options for travel between Young and Sydney, and I encourage people to use the trial service to show there’s a demand for it permanently.”
The trial will operate for six months to assess overall demand for the service and patronage on each day to determine the ongoing timetable.
Existing regional fares between Young and Sydney will apply for the trial.
