A particular comment about Thursday afternoon’s bowls was that there was no wind – a rare occurrence in recent times.
Club pairs semi-finals
The two semi–finals of the Club Pairs were played on Thursday.
Peter Slater and Ian Schofield enjoyed an early lead of 10–3 against Geoff Holt and Graeme Edgerton but Geoff and Graeme scored 10 shots on the next three ends to lead 13–10.
After 16 ends Geoff and Graeme led by just one shot 17–16 but they won the remaining ends to win 27–16.
The second game saw Geoff and Neal Hines opposed to Damien Miller and David Quigley.
After eight ends the score was 6–all but Damien and David then moved to a 13–6 lead and with fairly even scoring from that point they went on to win 22–13.
Jackpot bowls
There were also 22 players involved in Jackpot Bowls.
The winning team for the afternoon consisted of John Cooper and Joe Bargwanna who won their game by 23 shots.
Rain hampers play
No play was possible on Saturday due to the rain.
Fewer numbers on Sunday
There were just eight players for bowls on Sunday morning and they enjoyed great conditions with plenty of sunshine.
Zone Pennant finals
Next weekend Zone 8 will conduct the Zone Pennant Finals.
Young will be playing against Wagga Rules in Grade Two at Ariah Park on the Sunday morning and the winner will play Temora in the afternoon.
Other district clubs to contest the finals are Harden in Grades Four and Seven, Boorowa Recreation Club in Grade Five and Cootamundra Country Club in Grade Six.
Good luck to all these clubs.
