The Bears proved that when they have possession, they can score.
Captain Paul Lewis scored after a set up by Josh Fogg and Ben Logue’s hat-trick of tries came on the stroke of full-time thanks to a grubber from Lewis.
It was a back and forth contest with some hard hitting in the middle from both sides’ forward pack. The score at halftime read 16-18 with Burrangong only trailing by two.
Captain Paul Lewis said the Bears need all of its players to come to training and transfer all the positive things that we are doing to our game day performances.
“We improved on the margin from last time we played Eugowra, but we need to focus on putting the right attitude out on the field,” he said.
Next week we host Cargo, who we lost to by two points last time we met. Kick-off is Sunday, June 13 at 2 pm.
Tries: Hat trick – Ben Logue, Josh Fogg, Paul Lewis Goals: 4/5 – Paul Lewis. Best – Mick Levett – Brett Campbell – Josh Fogg and Ben Logue .
The Burrangong Bears League Tag side had a 36-0 loss to Eugowra. Eugowra were able to execute their game plan well in the first twenty minutes running in three tries in that period and a late try in the first half to go to a 24-0 lead at halftime.
Manager James Sheehan said luck was not on the Bears’ side on Sunday.
“We found ourselves on the wrong side of some 50/50 calls and some smothering defence by Eugowra early on in the game,” he said.
“The second period of the first half, Burrangong had a run of possession and looked dangerous spreading the ball out wide and making a lot of ground, but were held out by solid Eugowra defence and some silly errors late in the sets.”
Best: – Victoria Hegyi, Hannah Hetherington, Nicola Hambilton. Next week host Cargo, who are current leaders in the League Tag. Kick-off is Sunday June 13 at 12:40 pm.
