A Harden based initiative will see school children learn sculpting from Bill the Bastard memorial statue creator Carl Valerius on July 15. It’s part of an “Imaginarius” workshop series for children and bookings are on 0427 864 320, There are many other school holiday programs offered in the region, with Jugiong’s Yard Studio offering drawing classes, Boorowa and Young libraries with various activities and Young’s Southern Cross Cinema and the PCYC also offering regular holiday programs. Hilltops Hub also has story time on July 12.
Christmas in July
In many centres Christmas in July is a regular tradition, and you’ll find a number of these events in the Hilltops region later in the month. Harden Murrumburrah Line Dancers have a free luncheon and entertainment for those living in the area who are 55 years and over, an annual event held at the Harden Bowling Club. This year it is on July 24 from 10.30am to 3pm. At Boorowa, the Ex-Services Club have a Neil Diamond Tribute Show and dinner at 7pm, with more details on 6385 3338. In Young there’s a Christmas in July concert at the library.
Exhibition
Young’s Burrangong Gallery has a jam-packed exhibition this month showcasing the talents of art students from Young High School.
Visual arts and photography students from all years have works on display and there’s a great variety of art to enjoy. Please come up and see.
New Face
A musician who moved to Young less than a year ago is this week’s guest artist at Take 5 on Friday. Valerie Ward is a singer and guitarist who enjoys easy listening and country songs.
