Following on from the well patronised Young meeting held recently, Bett Maxwell and his enthusiastic group of followers made the trip to Wagga last Tuesday night with the promising pacer Harrison Paul.

Drawn from the ideal number one gate, driver Todd Day was keen to hold the lead in taking out the 1755m $6,120 pace defying a strong challenge from former local pacer Soho Beijing and Mister Decorum which resulted in a handsome $8.60 return for investors.

With the advantage of a first up run and a winning trial previously, Glenn Wilmot collected the major end of the prize in race three at the same meeting with the promising Annatto but with a much smaller financial return to investors of $2.10.

Grenfell owner Ted Baker continues to maintain a wide smile with his promising pacer and last start Young winner Blaster Ranger continuing his good form in greeting the judge once again at Bathurst.

Trained by Matthew Harris, the wraps on this Carabean Blaster pacer are increasing with every start so keep a close eye on the big fellow in weeks to come.

With Village Witch winning at Menangle on Saturday night for Josh and Chloe Powderly all roads led to Parkes on Sunday and again the local trainers were to the fore in the nine race program.

David and Blake Micallef were able to give part owner Robyn Smith some relief in her journey to recovery and throwing away her crutches forever when Kettering Girl ($2.70 fav) fought off a determined challenge in race three to defeat first starter Dreamwithangles and Alabama Tiff.  

Glen Wilmot saddled up Annatto in race seven and following the recent Wagga win made it two wins from as many starts.

Starting from the one gate and leading throughout, the five year old mare has now won nine races and just under $50,000 for her owners.

Always a popular venue, these Saturday night meetings are something the true followers look forward to and with free admission and the Lions Club bbq in operation, the numbers should swell once again.
