An unoccupied home on Blackett Avenue, Young, that was being renovated has been burned in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

About 12.47am on Wednesday morning Young Fire and Rescue responded to several 000 calls in regards to a house fire at 9 Blackett Avenue.
According to Young Fire and Rescue captain Ryan Terry when the fire crews arrived there were flames and smoke coming from the building on the property.
Young Fire and Rescue crews worked quickly and had the fire under control within 15 minutes of arriving on the scene with the fire extinguished a further 20 minutes later.
Mr Terry said Fire and Rescue crews remained on the scene mopping up and patrolling until 3.20am when it was handed over to officers from Young Police Station for investigation.
“Thank you to the other emergency services and the energy company for responding to the call so quickly,” Mr Terry said.
“Their support was, as always, much appreciated.”
