Recruitment for Hilltops Council’s new General Manager is well underway with applications for the role now closed. We look forward to moving ahead with the interview phase of the recruitment process once detailed applications for the role are reviewed.
I was very disappointed to hear of vandalism to the skatepark in Boorowa last week. This is unacceptable and I urge the entire Hilltops community to keep their eye out for anyone damaging our facilities and report anything that needs reporting. It is up to every one of us to keep our community facilities safe.
Council have engaged a consultant to prepare a master plan for the Young Aquatic Centre. Part of this project will involve a community consultation program to inform the development of the master plan for the upgrade of the Aquatic Centre.
The purpose of the community consultation is to seek the views and ideas for all participants on the current proposed concept design for the Young Aquatic Centre and provide feedback on the key issues that should be considered in upgrading this facility in the future.
The community meeting will be held on Monday 6 August 2018, 7pm in the LEOC room at Hilltops Council’s Young Office. All community members are invited to come along and share their ideas.
Planning for the upgrade of Blackguard Gully is underway with Council releasing a tender for the development of a Masterplan and Plan of Management for the site.
Funding for the Blackguard Gully project has been provided by the Stronger Communities Fund as part of the amalgamation of Hilltops Council. It is expected that a draft Masterplan and Plan of Management will be prepared by mid-January 2019 for community consultation.
A final Masterplan and Plan of Management will then be presented to be endorsed by Council and the Office of Environment and Heritage prior to any works commencing.
Water restrictions in Boorowa have been lifted. We have been watching the water supply level very closely, particularly following the dry few months we’ve had. Thankfully rain in the region over recent weeks have allowed the weir pool to rise.
Don’t forget a Day for the Blokes will be held on Friday 27 July 2018 from 6pm at the Boorowa Recreation Club. The evening will include a special appearance by Gretel Killeen,
guest speakers, a general health check and BBQ. The cost of attending is $20, payable at the door. Bookings are essential and can be made at the club.
Another reminder to anyone looking to safely get rid of household chemicals. Hilltops Council are holding our annual Household Chemical CleanOut this week.
This is a free service which allows community members to dispose of hazardous household chemicals safely.
