The convention is a free event for all fans of pop culture, where enthusiasts can get together and ‘Geek Out’ over their favourite characters, debate theories, listen to renowned geeky musician Meri Amber and take part in all kinds of fun.
"Geeks aren't just kids anymore. Since shows like The Big Bang Theory and movies like The Avengers came out people have realised how much fun it is to be a geek," the Geek Out Collective’s Matthew Apps said.
Fans of the comics, movies, video games, sci-fi, it doesn’t matter, everyone is invited to join in the event which will include cosplay, where people can dress up as their favourite characters, live music from Meri Amber, question and answer panels and plenty of other geeky goodies.

The running of events will be:
- 2-5pm vendor tables
- 2.30-3pm cosplay/costume contest
- 3-4pm Meri Amber performs
- 4-4.30pm Star Trek question and answer with James
- 4.30-5pm question and answer with Meri Amber
The fourth annual Geek Out Convention will be held this Saturday from 2pm at the Salvation Army hall on the corner of Boorowa and Clarke Streets in Young.
