Young branch held its International Day on Tuesday, July 17 and although numbers were small we had a most enjoyable day and the Polish food was just delicious.
Our guest speaker, Wanda, gave us an interesting insight into the demeanour of the Polish people.
She spoke about her father who was Polish and of his war experiences.
The one word she kept using about her father was “proud” and this trait appears to be in most of the people.
Thank you to Jan Perrin who made a salad, Jude Carlon made chicken, asparagus and mushroom crepes, Rebecca Johnstone made stuffed cabbage rolls, Merrilee Chudleigh for her tomatoes filled with potato in sour cream, Hazel Duffy for the Polish sausages and Diana for her Bigos or hunters' stew which had pork, beef, mushrooms and cabbage in it.
Dessert proved just as yummy with Jan's apple pie and Lyn's stuffed pancakes and Kremowka Papieska (Polish Papal cream cake) which looked and tasted like our vanilla slices.
We had a Lucky Door prize which Jenny Thompson won and was a hand towel and face washer set.
