Ambitious for work, Christine landed her first job in Quandialla at the Quandialla Health Care Services on August 7, 1978.
“What made me get into the industry was because of the terms my mother had set for me if I were to leave home,” she said.
“The hospital asked me whether I wanted to come and give the teas out to the patients and help get them ready and get them to bed.
“That’s how it started out.”
Eventually Christine found the desire for a role which required her to work more hours.
“When my daughter was ready to go to school I thought, well, what am I going to do now?”
When the Quandialla Hospital eventually downgraded, they found Christine a job at the Young Health Care Services instead.
Eventually, Christine was highly sought out for the position as supervisor and she accepted the role.
Christine than went on to work at Young Hospital for 30 plus years, where she became a part of a close medical team.
Christine said Young District Hospital has an incredibly supportive and fun-loving team.
“I’ll definitely miss the team here,” she said.
Christine was handed one last award for her incredible service before cutting her cake.
The room was crowded with friends, colleges and yummy deserts - appreciation for all of the incredible work Christine has done over the last 40 years in the medical industry.
Memories were shared during the bittersweet morning farewell tea, as well as jokes and a lot of well wishes towards Christine and her bright future.
Young Hospital wishes Christine good luck.
