Last year’s Delta Agribusiness & Incitec Pivot Burrangong Picnic Cup was taken out by the Canberra based, Doug Gorrel trained eight year old mare Liabilityadjuster who defeated top weight Malleable and Mr. Burns in a time of 1:22.43 and a winning margin of 1½ lengths.
The winner was ridden by the late Samara Johnson who was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident.
Samara, a former local girl, had been riding successfully throughout 2017 with two wins and three minor placings at the Young meeting.
Prior to those wins, the talented amateur jockey rode three winners at the Boorowa Picnic races and a winner at Mudgee.
Her final ride was at Bong Bong where she was unplaced on Thunder Mist for trainer Andrew Eastcott on November 24.
Her talents and broad smile will be sadly missed by all.
Final acceptors, together with selections will appear in next Fridays issue of the Young Witness.
