More than 350 people flocked to Young for the annual Young Masters Tournament on the weekend at Keith Cullen Oval.

Twenty-one teams were in action throughout the weekend including local sides from Young, Murringo, Koorwatha and Grenfell and teams from as far away as the South Coast. Illawarra Old Boys took out the major prizemoney of $1,500 in the draw at the dinner at the Young Services Club on Saturday night which was attended by 375 people.

“The weekend was fantastic. We don’t keep scores, every just gets out there and has a good time,” organiser Geoff Hill said.
“Illawarra have been coming for eight years and that’s the first time they’ve taken out the big money. They’re really happy and they’ve already booked for next year.”

Former Sydney first graders Neville Glover, Damien Kennedy and Kevin McGuiness all participated in the annual event.
“It’s a great weekend away for the sides that travel here. It’s like an end of season trip,” Hill said. City beat Country in the annual challenge on Sunday morning.
