This was one of the main concerns raised with me and other councillors prior to last years elections that a new LEP was needed to look at the different zonings across the council area to encourage both residential and industrial development, we as council agree.
While a new LEP will solve some of these issues raised it will not solve them all.

While we have looked at the three old LEP's and compared them, there is a lot of areas of these documents that vary because of what each of these councils were trying to achieve. We will be looking very closely at these differences to achieve the best outcome for our new Shire.
Over the next couple of months the consultant that we have engaged, along with the council, will be holding a number of workshops to engage with the community so as we can get your input.
I would encourage anyone who has an interest in what the final LEP document looks like, to be involved and have input. This new LEP will help drive development and change across our region for the next five to six years.
The Murrumburrah Precinct Plan has been completed by the consultants and will go before council, hopefully at the October meeting and if council are happy with the documents it will then be placed on public display for community input.

I also encourage the community to have a close look at this plan and make comments and suggestions. Harden Shire did a great job of revamping the CBD of Harden and now it is time to look at the Murrumburrah precinct to try and achieve a similar outcome.
This precinct has changed dramatically with the increasing tourism trade and the businesses should be congratulated. A big congratulations to the Kite Festival committee for a very successful day, who would have thought that the crowd would double.
Thanks to council staff for quickly handling the traffic problems.
