The pub is raising money for mental health and suicide prevention charity LIVIN – an organisation whose message is “it ain’t weak to speak”.
Fundraising organiser Leah Guy believes it’s a topic that needs exposure and needs to be talked about.
She said hotel environments are often places where people “speak up” to friends and family, or even staff behind the bar, but she wants anyone who’s having trouble to know that “it ain’t weak to speak”.
“We need to get the message out so that people aren’t scared to speak to someone when they’ve hit a wall and don’t know what to do,” Leah Guy said.
“There’s always ears behind a bar too.”
Buckets on the bar are collecting donations which will go to the total raised.
Leah hopes to raise between $3000 to $5000.
A major fundraiser is planned for November 17.
