Located outside Donges Supa IGA, there will be three demonstrations from the team of professionals along with open skate sessions for anyone wanting to have a ride and show off their skills.
Andrew Mining, manager of Korrupt Indoor Skate Park, said that they were looking forward to be part of the festival. “It’s great to provide entertainment and put on a display for all the visitors to the festival but it also benefits us by helping promote our sports and get more young people involved,” he said.
After opening Korrupt over four years ago, Adam said they have continued to work with councils and other organisations to help host events and build the profile of sports such as skateboarding and skating along with new variations. “Scootering has really taken off over recent times,” he said. “It’s a bit easier for kids to learn and build their confidence on, and it also helps with balance”.
The team at Korrupt helped with the opening of Young’s Skate Park, and Adam said they were excited to be asked back to help out again. “It really is an honour to be welcomed back to Young. The council is very proactive and it’s great to seem them getting youth involved”.
For the free ride sessions participants are reminded they need to supply their own equipment with helmets compulsory. Anyone under 18 must have an adult present to sign their waiver. For more information visit the Cherry Festival website.
