Four winners were for Cootamundra owner-breeder Michael Hugo while one was for Young’s Garry Sheather. It wasn’t the first time Jack had experienced the thrill, however it’s been a very long time since he won five at Young back in the 1970s.
“It was a long time ago. I trained five winners at the Young track back in the 70s. It’s hard to get five winners anywhere,” Jack said.
“We had eight starters and five winners. A couple ran lucky and a couple got into trouble. All were favourites.”

London Tom started the luck winning race two on the 12 event program.
Extreme Chance took out her 47th career win followed by Jason’s Chance in races three and four respectively to cap a winning treble. Red Hot Chance won race six before Tammy’s Chance finished the night in style with victory in race 12.
Both Jason’s Chance and Red Hot Chance have qualified for the Temora to Bathurst Final on Monday next week, however Jack has a soft spot for veteran Extreme Chance.
“Extreme Chance has won 47 races. That’s a lot of wins for one dog. There’s probably not another dog in NSW that’s won that many. She’ll going for breeding soon,” Jack said.

“Next Monday we’ll be off to Bathurst. It’s extra prizemoney and it has a bit more prestige about it. It’s always good to win a final so we’ll see how we go.”
Jack and Lorraine turn their focus to this weekend’s racing at Young with two lots of series heats to be run ahead of the finals on Boxing Day.
