Just before Christmas prices around Young specifically, sky-rocketed to a whopping 1.70 cents per litre.
An event which left licensed residents gob-smacked and travelling to other towns such as Cootamundra and Junee to fill-up their petrol tanks instead, where fuel prices were at a significantly lower price.
No surrounding areas seemed to be hit with these kinds of fuel price increases, so reason behind the increase was not understandable to those of the Young area.
Thankfully, fuel prices around town seem to have fallen back bellow 1.40 cents a litre at most retailers for Unleaded users, that’s a 30 cents price drop compared to the 1.70 cents per litre before Christmas.
Motorists would still like to see fuel prices drop as Young still holds a slightly higher price rate for fuel than surrounding towns, but this is definitely better than what we have seen all of late 2018.
