The meeting will be held on location at Judy McAlister’s Home Studio. A drawing session will follow the meeting on January 21 at 4pm. Please bring drawing equipment, food and drink and enjoy the sweeping views on location. Car pool will leave the art room at 3.45 pm. All Welcome. Burrangong Gallery Exhibition – The first Exhibition for 2019 at the Burrangong Gallery will officially be opened mid-week at midday on Wednesday January 23. The Exhibition “Oz Landscapes” with Guest Artist Geoff Naylor will be on display daily until March 15, 2019. Please join members of the Young Society of Artists Inc. in the Young Visitors Information Centre for a lunch break and help welcome Tumut artist Geoff Naylor. Geoff is an impressionistic landscape Artists who works in oils. His stunning landscapes will delight all visitors. Light refreshments will be served on the railway platform adjacent to Burrangong Gallery.
Art Room reopening – The YSA Art Room will reopen on Monday January 28, 2019 from 11am to 7pm. A garage sale of art books and picture frames will be held in Studio Two on the same day from 11am to 6pm with entrance by the rear gate at the Southern Cross Cinema.
Hebel Carving Workshop – The first workshop for 2019 is a Hebel Carving garden Sculptures, with tutor Bev Walker on Saturday February 16. This six hour work shop will be held at Bev’s home studio. Bev will share her knowledge and experience on how she approaches the craft of carving sculptures from aerated cement known as Hebel Blocks. Hebel Blocks will be sold on the day. Bev will have a selection in different sizes to choose from. Limited spaces available and bookings are essential. Please contact Sue on 0457369136 for information.
2019 Major Annual Exhibition - Young Town Hall - Invitation to all artists to submit art works for the 11th Annual Lambing Flat Sculpture, Wood and Big Art Exhibition to be held in the Young Town Hall for four days only. Entries are due March 8, 2019 so now is the time to get ready for this big event. Entry forms are available at the Young Visitors Information Centre, Southern Cross Cinema, Young Town Hall and Hilltops Library. The delivery date will be Sunday March 24, 2019 and the official opening is on Tuesday March 26, 2019 at 7pm.
Art Room play day – Micro to Macro in Nature. Micro Monday March 4, 2019 11am start. Macro drawing of an organic form would be a drawing of the surface of a leaf or animal part that was considerably larger than the original object. Using the eye or view finder to draw the details of the inside of a flower or the texture of a pinecone. All welcome to join the group for this play date.
