One of the event organisers, Jenny Howell, was very pleased with the turnout of guests and volunteers and said that the community spirit was ever present in Young once again.
“We start planning for this event in October and there are many generous people involved, from the beginning right through to the final clean up,” Jenny said.
Many volunteers helped set up the tables on the Friday prior to Christmas, including some staff, students and parents from Hennessy Catholic College, and around 35 assisted on Christmas Day.
The luncheon is a wonderful Community event where people who otherwise may have been alone, can relax and share in the Christmas spirit.
The guests and volunteers enjoyed Christmas music, lucky door prizes, gifts from Santa, cool drinks, and of course a delicious meal including meats and salads, ice cream and Christmas pudding.
Every part of the meal was made possible through the generous donations from individuals and groups from within the Young community. “We are always amazed at the generosity of so many people who quietly give of their time, money and produce to make this day so special,” Jenny said.
All members of the organising committee would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the people of Young who helped in any way to make the day a great success and provide some cheer for those in need.
