Mary Johnson will join the committee, bringing a multicultural perspective to the committee and strong connections to the community through her business and school links.
“I have a keen interest in the medical and health facility available to young families in our town and am looking forward to being a spokesperson for those who need to be heard,” Mary said.
Registered nurse Samantha Dewick joins the committee as a staff representative.
“Working in the Emergency Department, I have first-hand experience of mental health issues and hope to be able to use my position on the LHAC to advocate and assist in the recovery of patients,” Samantha said.
“We are very pleased to welcome these two new members to our Committee, they will bring a great level of enthusiasm and is passion about advocating for services in our community,” Young LHAC Chair Heather Ritchie said.
“Our primary role is to be a voice for health services in our community. We are also involved in a number of initiatives which we think are priority areas for our community.”
The Young LHAC meets monthly and has been an vocal in providing feedback to the health service and primary health network on a range of issues including women’s health, maternity and community health.
Members include: Heather Ritchie (Chair), Annette Parr, Janice Ward, Melissa Banwell, Jon Walker, and new members Mary Johnson and Samantha Dewick.
The LHAC will be holding and planning and priority setting meeting in March to discuss priorities and plan for the next 18 months.
