Our first club meeting since our Christmas break was very exciting with Emily Berentin our German exchange student from 2015 surprising us and joining the meeting.
Emily gladly gave us an in site of her time since she returned to Germany to finish her schooling. She has returned to Young on a three month working visa and is working locally on an organic farm.
She has now chosen medicine as her university studies which she will commence when she returns to Germany.
It is amazing to keep contact with these young students and see them go on to follow their dreams after a life changing year on student exchange.
Our first club activity for the year was cooking breakfast for Young’s annual Australia Day celebrations in Carrington Park.
February 10 was a busy day with Young hosting two Rotary events at the Young Services Club.
In the auditorium the public image seminar was held. As our district boundaries will extend in 2021 to include clubs from Canberra down to Bega and South Coast and out to Griffith, this was our first gathering which included members from our new district.
Upstairs the district youth exchange held the debrief for students returning from overseas and their presentations to the youth exchange committee as well as the outward bound student information session.
