March is a busy month in Hilltops with two festivals on the calendar. Jugiong has the writers’ festival over the weekend of March 23/24 while Young has the multicultural event, the Lambing Flat Chinese Festival on March 30.
Boorowa and Koorawatha Shows
March opens with two agricultural shows celebrating the rich diversity of our Hilltops region.
Among milestones celebrated at the 130th Boorowa Show is the 30th birthday of the Boorowa Community Landcare group, which will provide free native trees at their stall, share memorabilia and helpful information.
This year Koorawatha is also hosting the Zone 10 Finals of the Junior Judging Competition, with winners eligible to progress to the Royal in Sydney.
Twilight festival
The Lambing Flat Chinese Festival is a twilight event this year with guest nations of South America providing some flamboyant samba dancing. Enjoy lion dancing, a sunset lantern parade, Asian food, Chinese culture, heritage displays, school concerts, and an art exhibition.
The Young and Region markets will run from 9am to 2pm on the day and the Lambing Flat Folk Museum will be open from 9am to 9pm with a discounted entry of $2.

Don’t miss “Oz Landscapes” at Burrangong Gallery, Young before the next exhibition opens on March 16. Tumut artist Geoff Naylor’s is receiving acclaim and can be viewed seven days a week at the gallery located in the Young Visitor Information Centre.
