Two men have died, and a woman is in a critical condition after a crash near Young yesterday.
About 2.10pm (Friday 1 March 2019), emergency services were called to Murringo Road, near Swamp Road, Murringo, about 20km east of Young, after reports of a crash between two motorcycles and a 4WD.
Police have been told a motorcycle, travelling with a pillion passenger, has collided head-on with a 4WD Landcruiser.
The Landcruiser has rolled and crashed into a second motorcycle.
The two motorcyclists, a 59-year-old man from Ungarie and a 57-year-old man from Girral, were unable to revived and died at the scene.
The pillion passenger, a 57-year-old woman from Ungarie, was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition for treatment to internal injuries.
The 27-year-old male driver of the 4WD was also taken to Canberra Hospital for treatment for a fractured arm.
A third motorcycle stopped at the scene without incident.
Officers from the Hume Police District established a crime scene and have begun inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
Friday, 4.30pm
Two people are dead and another is in a serious condition being flown to Canberra Hospital after a crash involving multiple vehicles near Murringo on Friday afternoon.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Murringo Road, about one kilometre outside Murringo towards Boorowa, about 2.10pm following reports of a multiple vehicle crash.
Police, NSW Fire and Rescue, NSW Ambulance supervises and paramedics from Young, Boorowa and Yass, as well as an air ambulance helicopter responded.
Two people died at the scene, another was being flown to Canberra Hospital and a fourth patient was taken by road ambulance to Canberra Hospital for further assessment.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson believes the incident involved two motorbikes and one motor vehicle.
Motorists are being urged to use the Lachlan Valley Way and the Olympic Highway as alternative routes to the Murringo Road between Young and Boorowa.
