Hilltops Council's tourism team and events coordinator Emma Hill have been working to ensure that this year's annual Lambing Flat Chinese Festival will be bigger than ever.

The festival, which will occur on Saturday, March 30 from 5pm until 9pm in the Town Hall block of Boorowa Street, is aimed at celebrating the rich Chinese heritage and multiculturalism within the Hilltops Region.
There will be spectacular Chinese lion dancing, a sunset lantern parade, Asian food, artisan and boutique markets, a sculpture, wood and big art exhibition, Chinese musicians, school performers, and other historical attractions that will enliven Young.
"It will be right in the heart of our town, and there will be something for everyone," Ms Hill said.
With a rich Asian heritage flooding through the veins of Young, the traditional celebration is one with deep, significant and relevant meaning to Young residents and residents of surrounding areas.
There will be multicultural food stalls and the Millard Centre will host boutique and artisan markets. From 9am to 2pm, Young Farmers Markets will be at Anderson Park.
Members of the Asian and South American community are expected to visit the town for the festival, and this year will also feature a new Chinese lion dancing group who will present three sets of dances.
Four Latin American dancers will also perform bringing a vibrant South American element to the Young multicultural festival.The twilight festival will be held on March 30 and features a sunset lantern parade, lion dancing, local performers and market stalls, Chinese musicians and historical attractions.
A twilight spectacle of lanterns will sparkle at the Lambing Flat Chinese Festival precinct at 7.30pm.
Hilltops region schools are participating in workshops decorating lanterns for the 2019 festival which feature Year of the Pig cut outs, calligraphy and of a South American theme.
Much of the historical record of the Young region is housed in the Lambing Flat Folk Museum, which will offer extended opening hours during the Festival. The museum, situated in Campbell Street, will open for a mammoth 12 hour stint this year.
The love of words and the stories will be demonstrated in Hilltops Library Young branch in Lynch Street during the morning of the Lambing Flat Chinese Festival for children.
Students will perform Future Faces also this year. Future Faces will be presented outside Young Town Hall in Boorowa Street from 5.15pm to 5.45pm.
Chinese musicians playing traditional Chinese music on authentic Chinese instruments will also perform. A pig character will be among the crowd as it is recognition that 2019 is the Year of the Pig according to the Chinese Zodiac.
