New South Wales Rural Fire Service (NSWRFS) brigades in the Hilltops region received a supportive boost with Donges Supa IGA donating money to each and every one of them as a way of saying thank you.
"They've been supporting us now for a number of years," NSWRFS South West Slopes Zone (SWS) Superintendent Andrew Dillon said.
"They also provide really great support for our cadet chain who have done really well over the last few years."
Superintendent Dillon thanked Mr Donges and IGA staff for their continued support of the NSWRFS across the region.
"It does mean a lot, some brigades it's the only income they get in their own accounts," he said.
"Obviously the service provides for most of the stuff they need, but again it's an income they get to buy a few things to help them along through each year.
"We're proud to do it," Mr Donges said.
Members from Brigades in Young and across the Hilltops region have continued their hard work not only protecting residents locally but have also been away as part of Strike Teams assisting at fires across the state.
The SWS Zone's Remote Area Fire Fighting Team (RAFT) have been kept busy over the fire danger period with several members attending fires across the country as well as the state.
"The RAFT Team are specialised fire fighters who fight fires on foot with the assistance of hand tools and aircraft in areas inaccessible to fire tankers and heavy plant," Superintendent Dillon said.
