After thunder rolled in the sky above Young all Friday morning, rain eventually fell with the Cherry Capital receiving 26.8mm at the Bureau of Meterology's station at Young Airport.

According to data recorded by the Bureau, the majority of rain hit town between 11.56am and 12.35pm, resulting road closures on Milvale Road at Birches Lane and Tubbul Road at Green Gully, while water could be seen flowing through Young's Captain Cook Weir.
A number of residents took to a community Facebook page to warn motorists of water over roads in Young and surrounding areas.
A thunderstorm warning now is in place for areas of the Central West including Parkes and Orange.
Wagga received 27.6 millimetres of rain between 10am and 11am on Friday.
