Boorowa Street between Main Street and Clarke Street became a hive of activity from 5pm as Young's most talented student musicians, singers and poets took centre stage, glamorous latin dancers mesmerised, mountain lion dancers wowed and traditional chinese music and food warmed the audience as the temperature hovered below 10 degrees Celsius.
Hundreds of students and their families took part in the lantern parade beginning from the western end of Boorowa Street at the Clarke Street intersection about 7.30pm.
More then 1000 lanterns were made by students from several schools across the region.
As the sunlight dimmed, the mountain lion dancers returned for a spectacular performance lit up by multi-coloured LED lights.
Orangisers, conceding it wasn't a record crowd, in a post on social media thanked all who "braved the weather".
