Freeman was contesting an aerial kick when he fell awkwardly on his left shoulder during the first half of Young's round two Group Nine loss to Gundagai at Alfred Oval.
First grade coach Roy Jewitt on Wednesday afternoon said it's likely they'll be without Freeman for the rest of the year.
"It's disappointing for us because Nayah had been one of our best players in the opening two weeks," coach Roy Jewitt said.
Also under injury clouds from Sunday's match are forwards Haydn Cowled and Kyle Richens, who both came from the field with ankle injuries.
Both are expected to miss at least the upcoming match with Wagga Brothers on April 28, while lock Blake Hewitt is still sidelined from round one when he injured his AC joint (shoulder).
"It's not an ideal start but injuries are part and parcel of contact sport. Hopefully Blake is right for our next match, he'd have had three weeks off by then. Let's hope it'll be right," Jewitt said.
He couldn't confirm who will wear the No.1 jersey for the rest of the year.
"I'm not 100 per cent sure at this stage. We have a couple of options but it's whether we should move players from positions they've been playing," he said.
"Boro [Aborosio Navori] could go back there but he's been outstanding at centre."
