Boorowa Picnics
In the Hilltops region horse racing spans back to early pioneering days and in May one event at Boorowa continues with this fine tradition.
In Boorowa the Picnic Races, popular for its authentic picnic ambiance, is set for a 66th meeting this Saturday, May 4.
Larger than Life Sculpture
A sculpture of Major General Kenneth Mackay will be unveiled at the Harden-Murrumburrah Light Horse Memorial in August.
Mackay's vision, horsemanship, military knowledge and political position, helped realise his belief that a mounted light horse, capitalising on Australian bush skills and combining the function of infantry and cavalry would create a force to protect a soon to be Federated Australia.
This force later became known as The Australian Light Horse.
It's quite a story. All members of the public are welcome to attend the ceremonial unveiling.
