With International Nurses Day celebrated this Sunday, MLHD have asked members of the public to nominate a nurse for the Consumer Appreciation Award in the 2019 NSW Health Excellence in Nursing and Midwifery Awards.
The awards recognise and acknowledge nurses and midwives for their excellence in practice and for the significant contribution they make to their professions, their teams and the community.
Nominations are now open and can be made at the NSW Health website.
MLHD's Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery Karen Cairney said International Nurses Day is an opportunity to acknowledge and thank our nurses and to celebrate the work they do every day.
Nurses are the single largest group of health professionals in MLHD's workforce, with a presence in a variety of settings from hospitals to community health centres.
This year's International Nurses Day theme is Nurses: A Voice to Lead - Health for All and focuses on the role of nurses in advocating for better access to health care for everyone, regardless of their social or economic status.
Finalists and winners will celebrate their achievements later in the year.
