The North Queensland Cowboys prop suffered a hamstring injury in his side's loss to Manly on Saturday night.
Klemmer is sidelined for up to six weeks opening the door for McLean's, a former Cherrypicker, Origin debut.
He's now racing the clock to be fit by June 23.
The Blues are trailing 1-0 in the series after an 18-14 loss to Queensland in game one.
