If you are interested in Young's history, then the afternoon with Ross Maroney this month is sure to please. This former local historian and writer is the author of the two volumes, Old Young and Jerrybang, a Short History of Lambing Flat Gold Field.

Bush Poets
With only six gatherings held each year be sure to mark the Bush Poets event in your diary. This month the poets and their audience meet at the Young Hotel in Young from 1.30pm to 5pm. Sunday, June 30 is their next gig. Organisers invite everyone to come along and enjoy this uniquely Australian entertainment. There's always an open mike, and adult and junior poets and yarn spinners are welcome, as are musicians.
Memories
Everyone has a story, and everyone has some unique memories, but few are ever written down. Whether it's for your own enjoyment, or something you'd like to pass on to your family or the wider world, memoir writing workshops are being held in Young this month. The workshops are presented by the Lambing Flat Fellowship of Australian writer and Kerry Chater will facilitate both days, covering areas such as why and what do you want to write, what makes a story interesting and linking stories.
Choose between workshops on Saturday or Sunday, June 22-23 from 1pm to 5pm at Young Services Club. Costs is $20, bring a pad and pen and come prepared to write.
