Murringo's Martin Hewson has been honoured with an Order of Australia in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.

He was recognised for his extensive service to the community of Murringo, a small village about 25kms east of Young.
A list of his achievements highlights his contribution to the community including life membership of the Murringo Community Association and the Murringo Public School Parents and Citizens Association.
He became a member of Murringo's Community Association in 1983 and has spent time as vice-president, secretary and works manager.
He remains a valued member of the association today.
Mr Hewson has been an executive member of the Parents and Citizens Association and was the Murringo Public School's marching coach. He also volunteers for Murringo's Public School Kitchen Garden Program.
The OAM recipient was also acknowledged for his contribution to the Murringo Fire Brigade.
He is the brigade's training officer and has been part of the brigade since 1980.
Mr Hewson was one of 1207 recipients named on the honours list.
