The Pickers will host Wagga Kangaroos on Saturday at Alfred Oval, both sides battling with two wins respectively at the halfway point of the Group Nine competition.
The two sides met in round one and, after trailing 16-0 during the early stage of the second half, Young suffered a 26-18 loss.
Despite slipping to a further five defeats since then, Jewitt has belief the Cherrypickers can make a run at the top five.
"Even though we've been getting beaten the boys have really stuck in there. The effort has been good in the squad which is a good sign and it means we can easily improve," he said.
One area Jewitt wants to see improvement is in completing sets.
It's something he believes has cost his side this year, including the five matches they've lost by eight points or less.
It's also an area which saw huge improvement last week, he said.
"The biggest thing is completing. Last week at Cootamundra was the highest we've completed all year, which means we didn't put as much energy into defence," Jewitt said.
"The amount of ball we've been giving away [earlier in the year] has really hurt us."
He conceded that eight place isn't where he imagined his side after the opening nine rounds.
"We're obviously not as high up as we expected to be," Roy Jewitt said.
"We have put in some positive performances. [Last week] We defended well, had good attitude and enthusiasm, and the result was a really good one for team morale."
