Police say the counterfeit notes are of poor quality and have contained Asian language characters.
Police also say have several lines of inquiry which are presently being investigated.
"We remind residents and businesses to check money presented or received for authenticity at the time of a transaction and to note the description of any person suspected of presenting a counterfeit note," Inspector of Young Police Jacob Reeves said.
CCTV or registration numbers will also be useful to police if possible, police say.
