Sean Glen Halls, 34, was sentenced at Young Local Court on Tuesday, July 2 for his involvement in a fight on Brial Street, Boorowa during March last year.

Police facts tendered at court reveal Halls and another person were involved in an argument before they started "physically fighting" about 1.30am in the morning.

The statement from police says a number of witnesses who attempted to stop the fight suffered injuries including a fractured jaw and a bruised eye. The other person involved in the fight sustained a broken front tooth and a bleeding lip.

Magistrate Michael O'Brien said the facts made for "disturbing" reading.

He noted the "sentencing exercise" before he handed Halls an intensive corrections order for a period of 12 months. "Sentencing needs to send a message that this type of behaviour won't be tolerated," he said.

"It needs to be a specific deterrent to you, and a general deterrence to like-minded people so they understand and appreciate what they might face."

Halls was also fined $200 and ordered to complete 100 hours of community service.
