Russell loses to Bruce

Russell Boyd competed in this event as the South Western District Champion. Russell lost his game to Bruce Lack from Temora on Sunday morning.
Bruce was opposed to David Inglis from Wagga RSL in the final on Sunday afternoon. With the scores level at 27-all Bruce scored four shots to take out the championship for the second consecutive year.
Margo and Damien are the champions
On Saturday the Region 10 Mixed Pairs finals were played at Temora. This event is played in a sets format.
Margo Parker and Damien Miller were the South Western Champions and they became the Region champions when they won both their games on Saturday. Damien drew the shot with the last bowl of the match against Temora to clinch the title.
Thursday afternoon bowls
At home play on Thursday afternoon saw 22 players on the green with a very cold wind spoiling the otherwise pleasant conditions.
Most games had a small winning margin but the vouchers for the day went to Michel Alavoine, Terry Holmes and Cliff Traynor with a margin of 14 shots.
Saturday afternoon bowls
Bowls on Saturday afternoon saw 28 players taking part in much better conditions.
Four of the seven games played had margins of 6 shots or less but the vouchers sponsored by Patterson Bros Funerals were won by Peter Berry and Mark Anderson with the very good margin of 19 shots.
Other winning teams were Greg Woods and Graeme Edgerton (11), Brian Christie and John Cooper (8), David Donges and Ian Schofield (6), Ted Loader and Cliff Traynor (4), Les Fanning and David Ward (2) and James Freudenstein and Harold Anderson (2).
Coming up at the Bowling Club
Play this weekend will see Jackpot Bowls on Saturday afternoon and mixed bowls on Sunday morning.
A second preliminary round of the BPL Cup is scheduled to start at 10 am on Sunday.
Players are reminded that entries for the Club Triples Championship close on Saturday 20th July and entries for the Minor Singles close on Saturday 27th July.
