Dr Trudi Beck leads a group of Wagga-based climate change activists which successfully advocated for Wagga City Council to declare a climate emergency.
She is now trying to generate more conversations outside Wagga.
"We can assist members of communities from other towns across the Riverina who are not sure how to attack it," Dr Trudi Beck said.
"We want to make people aware. That's what it's all about."
Canberra-based Dr Arnagretta Hunter, who is part of the Doctors for the Environment organisation, told the Young Witness, while consulting in Young on Friday, that it's important to recognise climate change.

"I spend time thinking about climate change and thinking particularly about the health implications of climate change. It strikes me that there's a real role for discussing it, and that's part of what I see as the real advantage of what's happening in Wagga. It's opening up discussion so we're able to discuss this stuff again."
Dr Hunter explained why it's important doctors are part of the climate change conversation.
"The modelling for summer, the one we've had and the one we're about to, it's going to effect our health in serious ways.
"We can pretend it's not happening, but we look out the window and we know."
Hilltops council mayor Brian Ingram believes Hilltops council would endorse something similar to Wagga City Council.
"It's important that what we leave behind is in someway better than what it was," he said.
He also explained that Hilltops council is finalising its $300,000 solar power project this year, which will see solar panels installed to a number of council's facilities.
Acting mayor of Junee Shire Council Matt Austin has said it will consider calling a climate emergency if it's "what the people want".
