A 22-year-old man who allegedly tried to break open a car door with a "bladed instrument" has been remanded in custody, police say.

Police were notified and commenced investigations after the incident occurred near a restaurant on Boorowa Street, Young about 5.50pm on Monday, July 8.
Police allege the 22-year-old approached the parked car armed with a "bladed instrument" which was used to attempt to open the passenger door.
Moments before the incident, the driver of the vehicle had to stop suddenly at a driveway on Boorowa Street to avoid hitting the alleged offender, police say.
Police allege that this agitated the man.
The 22-year-old male was identified by police after investigations. About 12.30pm the next day he was arrested on Main Street, Young.
He was taken to Young Police Station and charged with armed with intent to commit an indictable offence.
He has been remanded in custody until September 11, 2019, police say.
