Students at Young North Public School were left stunned by a rocket crash landing on school grounds on Monday morning.

In fact, it was all part of Science Week and to bring the school together to complete a common writing task.
"All the students turned up this morning without any idea," Deputy principal Nick Berry said.
"We've had a team of people working on it for a few weeks and it all came together on Sunday afternoon and this morning.
"We thought we'd do this for our students. It's our stimulus, there's a common writing task throughout the school."
The rocket landing was set up by school staff as part of Science Week's theme 'Destination Moon: more missions, more science'.
The theme was set to encourage students and teachers to investigate how current and past space missions have solved real-world problems using science, technology, engineering and mathematics to find solutions.
The rocket was made from 44-gallon drums, witches hats, plywood, metal and silver spray paint. Finishing touches were made on Monday morning. Each class was given time to inspect the crash with respective teachers before writing a narrative.
"It's great to see the excitement on the kids' faces and it's a shared experience throughout the school," Mr Berry said.
