Only Cootamundra Bulldogs are in Young's way of claiming the minor title, with the two doing battle in the final regular round of the Trevor Burmeister Shield season on Sunday afternoon at Alfred Oval.
Manager of the reserve grade side Robert Bush said winning the minor premiership would be a big reward.
"They've been training really hard, it's a been a really big season so far for them," he said.
"They're not a big side, and they're a very young reserve grade side. They've built really well throughout the season."
Bush says Cootamundra will provide a tough assignment for the Cherrypickers.

The Bulldogs reserves are looking to secure a top three place, and a second chance in the finals.
Front rowers Stewart James, Harry Nowlan and five-eighth Matt Murray have been standouts for Young.
However, Bush says success has been made possible by every player contributing across the park.
"We can score points anywhere," he said.
Winning the minor premiership would give Young a rest during the opening week of finals, then two chances at securing a place in the grand final.
When Young's reserves won the minor premiership in 2004, they went on to win the premiership.
Young under 17s have already sewed up the minor premiership while under 19s will finish in the to three.

Games begin 11.50am with reserve grade kicking off at 12.50pm.
First grade begins at 2.05pm.
