The Lions failed last weekend to qualify for the grand final suffering a 2-0 loss to Lake Albert, however will have a second attempt in Saturday's elimination final at Junee.
Young trailed 1-0 at the break last weekend before Lake Albert extended the lead to 2-0 at the final siren.
"We had them under pressure and probably should have had at least one goal. I took a lot of positives," coach Mark Mellish said.
"It wasn't elimination so it was a chance to see how they play and I've identified a few things so we'll have a lot more ammunition if we get through this week.
"We're clearly one of the top two teams in the competition, we just need to get out there and kick some goals."
Young has defeated Henwood Park twice during the regular season.
Mellish said it'd be great to see some fans at Junee to support the Lions.
Saturday's preliminary final kick-off is at 3pm on Saturday at Junee.
