Young Garden Club celebrated 40 years last weekend | Photos

The Young garden club 40th Anniversary Celebration took place Sunday September 15 at Clifton House and Gardens.

The day sponsored by SWSCU was extremely successful.

We hosted 47 members from five other affiliated clubs, namely the Cherry Blossom, Cootamundra, Cowra, Grenfell and Temora clubs as well as most of the Young members.

It was a very relaxed friendly atmosphere, in between courses the formalities took place.

The guest speaker was the President of the Garden Clubs of Australia inc George Hoad. George gave a talk about the structure of the GCs of A Inc. The Club Committee (all volunteers) who come from all over Australia, the Zone Coordinators and the affiliated Clubs. He stressed the fact that we are all linked by the "passion for gardening" and love for plants and the environment. He spoke about the very dry conditions he has seen during his travels and how tough it is for farmers. He informed us that the the GCs of Australia have donated thousands of dollars to the cause and encouraged others to also help. George also entertained us by singing two songs.

Helenie presented George with a thank you gift of a basket full of local products. George presented the club with a framed 40th Anniversary Certificate.
