Australian champion bush poets Melanie Hall and Susan Carcary hosted 24 poetry workshops for Hilltops Primary Schools from Monday, October 21 to Saturday, November 2.

Close to 900 students took part as Mel and Susie clocked up more than 800km while touring the region.
Each workshop covered aspects of traditional Australian bush poetry, showing how rhyme and rhythm were used by noted Australian poets.
Stage presence and voice modulation were discussed and this lead on to performances with student participation.
Organiser Ted Webber said it was a great success.
"The desired outcomes were to engender love of country and spoken word in primary school age children. Improve self-confidence and public speaking skills, encourage children to write and memorize poetry and promote Australian history and heritage," Mr Webber said.
Mel and Susie generously presented each school with a gift while, each school will also receive a Wombat Bush Poets certificate of appreciation.
Schools which took part included Koorawatha, Maimuru, Young Public, Young North, Monteagle, Murringo, New Madinah College, St Mary's Young, Boorowa Central, St Joseph's Boorowa, Trinity Murrumburrah, Jugiong, Murrumburrah and Wombat.
Bribbaree, Greenethorpe, Rye Park and Wallendbeen also benefited from the project and were hosted by Maimura, Koorawatha, Murringo and Wombat respectively.
Extra sessions were held at Young High School and Grenfell Primary.
