With the cherry harvest well underway, and just three weeks before the 70th Woolworths National Cherry Festival, arrangements for the big event are well underway.
Programs are available at many places in the region, invitations to stall holders are being finalised and interest in contributing to the festival parade is growing.
This year the Friday night activities return to Anderson Park where there is a big program of live music, amusement alley and fireworks.
Parade forms
Interest in participating in this year's Cherry Festival parade, to be held at 4pm on Saturday December 7 is growing. Many organisations that have already returned their forms in readiness for this popular major event. For those keen to take part, there are parade forms now live on the National Cherry Festival website or if you prefer, call in to the Young Visitor Centre to collect.
This year's theme is cherries and with only two award categories - best overall and best theme - all participants are being encouraged to create an exciting spectacle.
Jugiong events
From an art exhibition to a Christmas Market and an evening with foodie Sophie Hansen, there is no shortage of special activities at the dynamic village of Jugiong this month.
A Jugiong Art Exhibition will be conducted over the weekend of November 23/24 an eighth biennial event at the Jugiong Memorial Hall.
Food, beverages and artisan works will feature at the Jugiong Gather and Graze Christmas Markets on November 30 and people are invited to an evening with 2016 Australian Rural Woman of the Year Sophie Hansen and the chance to shop and graze at the Long Track Pantry on November 29.
Chris Hammer in Hilltops
Celebrated Australian Author Chris Hammer will visit Hilltops region this coming week where he will appear in conversation. Chris is author of the best seller "Scrublands" and has just released his latest book, "Silver".
Chris is a former journalist and an interesting speaker. If you want to take part in these events, to be held at Urban Retreat, Young on Thursday November 21 and Boorowa Library on Friday November 22 at 10.30am contact your library branch to secure your place.
Name that tune
Come test your knowledge at today's Take 5 on Friday event at Hilltops Library in Young when Liz Boland and a flute ensemble ask you to identify their repertoire of well known tunes. The rewards for guessing are pretty high with chocolate in abundance for those who get it right. Liz is a member of the Young Regional School of Music teaching team and her ensemble concerts are always well executed and fun. The concert will be run from 12.30pm to 1pm.
