The annual event has marked its 22nd year this week since a committee of Young golfers kicked off an inaugural tournament in the 1990s.
Bill Kearney, the organiser of the event, said nearly 170 of the players are visitors from places such as Victoria, Queensland, and across NSW.
The event unfolds over a total of five days, Sunday being the social night, with competition taking place Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
A presentation is held on Friday night before the visitor depart town. Mr Kearney explains how this event benefits the community in Young, including lots of businesses.
"There are lots of the local businesses in town that are sponsoring us, and this event not only supports golf, but supports the whole town," he said.
Ladies and men compete in three divisions to decide the individual Cherry Festival Open winners, however there's all sorts of prizes handed out throughout the week.
The prizes include gift vouchers, while the NSW Veterans Golf Association hands out a trophy also.
"It's the biggest event by far [on Young's golfing calendar]," Bill says.
Friday's event is a 4-ball teams event, similar to Monday. Tuesday and Thursday were 18-hole rounds of the Cherry Festival Cup.
