The National Cherry Festival committee has written to local businesses and residents to warn them of the fireworks display as part of this year's 70th festival celebrations.

On Friday evening, December 6 fireworks will begin approximately around 9pm.
"During the evening you will likely hear several explosions and observe flashes of colour in the sky," president of the committee Caitlin Sheehan said.
"Do not be alarmed, it will be the fantastic fireworks display under way. Any inconvenience caused is regretted and your patience, cooperation and participation is greatly appreciated."
If you have pets it is asked that they be adequately restrained or tethered to avoid a startled pet running away during the display.
Road closures on Friday night will be in place from 8pm until 10pm.
- Lovell Street between Zouch Street and Main Street.
- Nasmyth Street between Zouch Street and Lynch Street.
- Lynch Street between Lovell and Edwards Street.
The festival official opening is at 5pm at Anderson Park.
There'll be entertainment from Young High School ensembles, Kahuna Duo and Harry Cleverdon on the main stage.
