Sergeant Paul Colefax and retired Chief Inspector Ashley Holmes were recognised with the Commissioner's Commendation award, while three more retired officers received service certificates and Probationary Constable Klara Novak was provided her Oath of Office on Friday.
NSW Police Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys made the presentations at Young's St John's Anglican Church hall.
Deputy Commissioner Worboys said the community should be proud of Sergeant Colefax and retired Chief Inspector Holmes.
"Two officers here today were recognised with a Commissioner's Commendation for courage which goes back a few years now to a dreadful incident which occurred at the front of Young Police Station in 2015. Those two officers, Ashley Holmes and Paul Colefax, did a remarkable job under very trying circumstances and I must say the commendation for courage is very worthy for those two officers and it's something they should be proud of and the community too," Mr Worboys said.
Retired Senior Constables Glen Keane and Matt Dreverman, retired Detective Inspector Scott Wilkinson and retired Chief Inspector Holmes were presented service certificates, recognising decades of service between them to NSW Police Force and policing in the Young district.
"It's only fitting that I'm here today to represent the Commissioner and the executive and say thank you, thank you to those officers and their families for giving up what was a substantial part of their life to policing," Deputy Commissioner Worboys said.
Young's Probationary Constable Klara Novak was provided an Oath of Office certificate.
"Each and every officer that comes out of the academy gets an Oath of Office certificate," Mr Worboys said.
"... it is simply about protecting the community, making sure the officer recognises the significance we put on the actions of a constable of police, and that the community expects us to do a job in all circumstances," he added.
