Twenty-eight crickets split evenly into two teams will play a modified 28-over match under lights at Alfred Oval on Friday, January 24.

With 14 players on each side, batting pairs will spend four overs each at the crease and will lose five runs and swap ends after each dismissal.

A bit different to the standard 11 fielders in a game of cricket, the bowling side must have 12 players on the ground and one compulsory slip at all times, and no more than three fielders outside the circle for the first 12 overs before a maximum of five.

There's a limit to four overs per bowler and two fielders must be sidelined throughout the innings.

Having not been played in Young for a few years, organiser Scott Druett is excited to see the return of the Pink Stumps match.

"It's always good to raise money for a cause which impacts so many people. The timing with what's happening across the state with bushfires is not great, but it will be nice to get the community together for the night and take people's minds off what's happening," Druett said.

"I'd like to thank all the sponsors and Young Cricket and Kookaburra who have provided prizes for the raffle and the balls for the night," he added.

Money raised will go to funding McGrath Breast Cancer Nurses who provide support and care to women and men experiencing breast cancer across Australia.

Raffles and collection tins on the night will provide opportunity to donate, while an online fundraiser is also available here.

The match begins at 5.30pm on Friday, January 24 at Alfred Oval following a junior Twenty20 game beginning at 2.30pm.
