On the one hand climatologists have predicted Young can expect to receive between 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall over the next three months, the bad news is there would need to be a lot more rain than that to make a dent in the drought.
"Recent rainfall has been beneficial for some drought and fire affected areas," a BoM forecaster said.
"However, several months of above average rainfall are needed to see a recovery from current long-term rainfall deficiencies."
According to the outlook models there is only a 75 percent chance of Young receiving between 10 to 25mm of rain and if you look at the weekly breakdowns the chance of rain actually decreases to 0 to 1mm.
Forecasters have also predicted that Young can expect higher than average minimum and maximum or daytime and nighttime temperatures over the next three months to April.
"March to May is also likely to see warmer than average days and nights for most of the country," the meteorologist said.
"With warmer days and nights likely for the coming months, the chance of heatwaves occurring remains high."
